Rules

Welcome home.

Eden RP is a low fantasy, post apocalyptic weird-west occult horror server set in the year 1900. We are deeply passionate about long-term community health and serious collaborative storytelling. Commitment to character, curiosity, and consideration of your fellow storyteller are our philosophical pillars, and we expect every player to embody these concepts to the very best of their ability.
All rules may be subject to change. Any questions regarding the rules and guidelines listed below may be submitted via our ticketing system.

Requirements

  • Commitment to Inclusion: We strive to build a welcoming and inclusive community for people from all walks of life where everyone can feel welcome and respected. Real world discrimination and thinly veiled replacements for such are strictly prohibited. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism are not welcome here. First and foremost, we abide by the golden rule–treat others the way you want to be treated.

  • Age Restrictions: Eden is a 21+ community, this includes both the RedM server and the Discord server. If you are found to be under 21, you will be removed from our community.

    • All characters must be 21 and up, no exceptions.

  • Language: We are an English-speaking server. Please utilize English primarily when in the RedM server.

  • Discord: You must join our discord in order to be granted access to the RedM server.

  • Steam: Your steam account and CFX must be linked to your discord.

White-List Guidelines

  • 3 Attempts may be made spread out every 24 hours to pass our whitelist. Please read through our website and rules thoroughly. If you have any clarifying questions, face an error while submitting your application, or submit an application before answering fully on accident, please submit a ticket with us.

    • If you are unable to pass after those three attempts, you will be barred from applying again for 1 month from your last submission.

    • While we are happy to help clarify things, we will NOT disclose any answers to our whitelist questions.

  • All applicants are expected to come to their own conclusions and fill out the application on their own. Do not ask for answers in our discord and do NOT use AI to answer for you.

Serial Killer RP

  • To play a serial killer or serial torturer, you must submit a ticket with us to be whitelisted for this role.

Body Dumping

  • Do not put bodies in inaccessible places or dump them into bodies of water.

  • Hiding a body in a bush is acceptable, but the body MUST still be accessible for follow-up roleplay.

Medical Roleplay

Injuries

  • Please read our Medical role play guide for tips, tricks, and considerations to improve your medical RP.

  • Injuries must be roleplayed realistically and be proportional to the inciting action.

  • Only the injured party can determine their injuries, but the inciting player may try to “guide” an injury (aiming a gun at a specific part of the body). Aiming at a hand, foot, or limb is acceptable. You may NOT guide an injury to an obviously lethal target (head, heart, etc). Respect your fellow roleplayers agency.

  • Healing time should be proportional to the severity of the wounds.

    • Repeat injuries should take longer to heal.

    • Aspects with increased healing are not to be used to avoid medical role play. You might heal quicker, but it would likely still require intervention and would be painful.

  • Sustaining injuries that cause temporary disability are permitted. Permanent disabilities require a ticket for approval.

  • Fatal injuries must be played realistically to the times. You may open a ticket to inquire about approval to magically heal fatal injuries with staff approval. Respect your doctors–do not trivialize injuries.

  • Players who are incapacitated or “downed” may not hold full and coherent conversations while downed. Groaning, otherwise acting in pain, and speaking minimally are all acceptable.

  • Respawning or being healed by a “local”/NPC doctor requires that you forget the last 30 minutes of role play.

  • Injuries to the genital area are NOT permitted.

Character Death

  • Not all deaths are permanent in Eden. All non-permanent deaths MUST be logged through our Reanimation ticket system. Any Reanimation that takes place without following the proper systems will result in corrective action. For information on our death process, please see our Death & Reanimation page.

  • Permanently killing your character cannot be undone. Choose wisely.

Forced CKs

In general, we do not want to determine when you decide to kill your character and aim to be as hands off as possible. However, certain actions can result in a forced CK:

  • Excessively reckless behavior with repeat instances of poor follow up RP

  • Succumbing to the malice via multiple reanimations

No Asset Transferring

  • Exchanging IRL money for assets in game is strictly prohibited.

  • Unauthorized or improper movement of in-game wealth, property, or businesses between two players via an out-of-character agreement with the intention to by-pass in-character avenues of transfer (last will and testaments, legal agreements, etc) is strictly prohibited.

  • Examples of asset transfer violations:

    • “Gifting” things, especially of significant financial value, to friends just before CKing.

    • Giving away assets with little IC reasoning, then quitting the server after.

    • Trading IRL money or favors for IC assets

  • Examples of acceptable asset transferring:

    • Giving away assets after an IC legal agreement has been made

    • Bequeathing assets via a proper last will and testament

    • IC gifts or supplying friends who are starting out with reasonable justification

  • Invalid asset transfers may be revoked and subject to corrective action.

Details & Statuses

  • Details are meant to enhance the play space. Do not place a multitude of unnecessary scenes or use the system to bypass standard rules of role play etiquette. Be as descriptive as possible.

  • Don’t directly overlap details with each other–all Details should be legible.

  • All Details should be realistic while also giving enough information for follow up role play. Details are not just there for you, but for potentially random, uninvolved people who happen across the area. No “muddy boot prints”, “strands of dark hair”, or generic “hoof prints from the south”. Details, especially those left behind as evidence on crime scenes, should be specific to the characters and events that were involved.

  • Consider both environmental Details and personal Details.

    • Environmental Detail examples: A set of boot prints leads deep drag marks in the mud, blood mingling with the wet dirt. Broken glass scattered across the floor, as if broken suddenly with great force. The acrid, ozone-like smell of magic is heavy in the air.

    • Personal Detail examples: A crude drawing of a songbird, the initials ‘L.B.’ beneath it. A torn scrap of a telegram-the numbers 7598 visible. A crumbled letter addressed to a Mr. Crawford. Bullet casings with ‘forgive me’ carved into the metal.

  • Do not place details on top of gameplay menus, as this can interfere with their access.

  • Statues should be kept short and sweet. No excessive font colors or paragraphs of information.

Conflict & Combat Etiquette

All player to player conflict is to be referred to as “character vs character” or “cvc”, not “player vs player” or “pvp”. At Eden RP, there is no such thing as PVP. This helps delineate between player and character while combating bleed.

  • All conflicts should have a clear beginning. Any CVC that results in violence, capture, or incapacitation without a clear beginning is classified as “Random Death Match” or “RDM.”

  • All conflicts should have a reasonable amount of lead up/escalation. No pulling out your gun out of nowhere and shooting up Billy Badass. We have a weapon grip system that CLEARLY indicates you are armed and willing to shoot. Use it, it’s very cool!

  • All CVC should contain a reasonable amount of counterplay. If you engage in CVC, you must remain online and available for counterplay for a minimum of 30 minutes after the END of the initial engagement.

  • No fanning the hammer or mag dumping into other characters. Fanning the hammer on zombies or objects is perfectly acceptable.

  • No execution animations in CVC conflicts.

Posse Rules in CVC

  • No group may exceed 6 when engaging in or responding to CVC, regardless of registration status (formal gang, marshals, etc)

  • Traveling in groups larger than 6 is permitted, but active participants should never exceed 6.

    • You may not have a “wait list” of people nearby set up to engage in the conflict in the event that one of the original 6 goes down.

    • Any people waiting nearby to do a breakout or rescue must not have been a part of the original group.

    • Any people outside of the original 6 MUST leave the area and are not permitted to re-engage in the actual conflict.

    • “Benched” or waiting parties ARE permitted to engage in the scene ONLY after combat has ended in order to get medical treatment for the injured parties or move them to another location.

  • No Third Partying or Dog-Piling in conflicts.

Breakout Rules

  • Individuals MUST be taken into custody and processed before they are eligible to be broken out of custody.

  • All standard group engagement rules apply to breakouts.

  • Please practice good sportsmanship when it comes to breakouts. Not every arrest should turn into a successful breakout. This will be viewed as win-chasing and poor pacing and may result in corrective action.

  • If you were in the initial conflict that resulted in capture, you may not participate in the breakout scene.

Restraint and Lasso Rules

  • No instant hog tie animations in active conflict.

  • Lassos are to be used as last resorts only. Restraining someone can instantly ruin or end a scene. Be mindful of taking away someone else’s agency. Use wisely and considerately.

  • Breaking out of a hogtie is prohibited. The only exceptions to this are if 15 minutes have passed without any further action. You MUST be left unattended for a minimum of 15 minutes before breaking out of a hogtie is allowed.

  • Do not abuse game mechanics like ragdoll to avoid chokeholds, lassos, handcuffs, or other restraining abilities/items. This is powergaming and is a rule break. Ragdolling to drop out of an accidental chokehold or similar situation IS acceptable.

  • Restraints must be removed after the scene has resolved. No leaving characters tied up in jail cells unattended.

Red Zones / No Man’s Land

Red Zones are designated kill-on-sight areas containing valuable resources and loot. These areas are designed to act as “dungeons” for players to access high values and story relevant loot, though there are non-red zone related avenues to accessing the same story items.
The expectation is that danger is constant and unavoidable, both from other characters, NPCs and the environment.

  • No Man’s Land, aka Red Zones, are clearly labeled on IC maps. You should receive a notification when nearing the zone. The majority of Red Zones are on the fringes of the map and require intentional travel. It would be VERY hard to stumble into one by accident

  • Normal CvC engagement rules do not apply. You should still make yourself known whether it’s by gunshots, general noises, or talking loud.

  • The expectation of good conduct and sportsmanship, however, does still apply. Give others the kind of experience you would want to receive.

  • Zone Boundary abuse is prohibited, and defined as the following:

    • Camping outside of a Red Zone and firing into it, including sniping from a distance

    • Camping entrances and exits to ambush and rob characters as they escape

    • Any positioning outside a Red Zone specifically to snipe, ambush, or otherwise engage characters inside the zone is considered exploitation of the mechanic and will result in an immediate temporary ban.

  • Red Zones are not intended to become permanent territory for a single group.

  • If staff determine that individuals or groups are doing anything from the below list or similar, Strikes will be issued.

    • Constantly guarding Red Zones.

    •  Hoarding access to Red Zones.

    •  Powergaming zone control.

    •  Preventing meaningful participation from others.

Red Zones belong to everyone. Not to whichever group logs in first.

Criminal Roleplay

CVC Robberies

  • CVC robberies should always have strong motivation and clear escalation. CVC Robberies cannot always be thoroughly planned, such as in the case of opportunistic highway robbery. Do not treat your fellow players as lootboxes.

  • Do not create conflict, rob, or otherwise create arbitrary grief. Motivations must be fully in character, well-paced and realistic.

  • There is a 1 hour cool down between CVC robberies. You may not rob multiple people back to back. Reasonable effort to “get away” or otherwise cover your tracks should be made during that time period.

  • If there are multiple people on either side of a robbery-based conflict, each person may only rob one individual on the other side. No pocket sweeping.

    • Each person per engagement can rob:

      •  2 items on the gunbelt (sidearm, longarm, knife, etc)

      • 3 items from a characters inventory

      • 3 items (singular or stack) from a wagon or a box

      • 3 items from a business storage

      • Any amount of money

      • Any amount of food or water (but do not leave them with nothing)

  • You must never leave someone fully without food, water, or a weapon to defend themselves unless it has been explicitly agreed to OOC as a storybeat.

  • Immediate Revenge attacking within the first 30 minutes following a CVC incident is prohibited. Do not re-engage in a scenario to seek revenge right after the scene has concluded, ESPECIALLY if your character is injured. You may, however, report the robbery immediately after to the Marshals.

  • You may NOT continue to attack someone who has been downed unless given explicit consent to do either through the /me chat functions or through DMs. This is essentially torture, and therefore requires trust, consent & conversation.

CVE Robberies & Jobs

NPC Robberies:

  • NPCs may be robbed once every 15 minutes, however, back to back NPC robbing is discouraged and considered NVL/NVF.

Store Robberies:

  • Coming Soon…..

Train Robberies:

  • Train robberies are large scale events that take place on a schedule and require sign ups ahead of time. They are high risk, high reward.

  • Sign ups are for registered groups only.

  • Participants are limited to 6v6 to maintain balance and prevent server overload.

  • Train robberies should not be performed back-to-back.

  • Signing up for a train robbery event will place your crew on a queue. Access will be given based on sign up order until every group on the queue has had a chance to execute the job, then the list will refresh and sign ups will begin again.

  • All standard rules of combat etiquette apply.

Bank Robberies:

  • Coming Soon….

Drug Manufacturing

Realistic Placement of Equipment

  • Prep and cooking equipment for making drugs must be placed in realistic locations that are accessible by foot, horse, or wagon. They may not be placed in locations that are only accessible via flying or teleportation. Clever placement to conceal the equipment is permitted. We just ask that folks do their research and be logical about it.

Corruption

  • Corruption roleplay in government positions (doctors, marshal’s office) is prohibited unless approved by staff. If you play a corrupt law officer, doctor, or other government official without prior approval by staff, you may be removed from that position, or even temporarily banned depending on severity and staff discretion.

  • Lead positions in government entities are strictly forbidden from being corrupt. This is to help prevent long term, systemic toxicity and to maintain a balanced sense of justice as much as possible. Government entities, and especially those in charge of leading them, should function as facilitators of RP and tone-setters.

  • Need to define precisely what corruption is for each branch

Zoning and Claims

  • Players will not be allowed to claim territory through scenes/details only. People have equal right to claim an area (aside from purchased property) just as much as anyone else. If players are physically in the space and using it, they are able to defend their claim, question people who show us, initiate conflict and the like but we want to avoid locking people out of using spaces. There’s only so much of the map, after all!

  • More coming soon!
